MLG's first major tournament without the showing of two powerhouses in the League of Legends North American eSports world.

It's been almost one year since the first showing of League of Legends at a Major League Gaming event. The first League of Legends MLG event took place in Raleigh, and
Counter Logic Gaming North America took the gold against
Team SoloMid. As we are heading to the anniversary of this LAN we are now aware that two major power houses in the League of Legends eSports world will not be showing. Without both CLG.NA and TSM we will be expecting a very exciting tournament between 12 teams, of which some are fighting for circuit points in order to earn the chance to play in the Season 2 North American Qualifiers.
Teams such as
Curse and
Dignitas who are both going to the tournament are expecting to place top 3, but out of the other teams who are fighting for their place in top 8 in the challenger circuit we are not sure what to expect. First place team will receive 400 circuit points which means they’ll be participating in the Season 2 North American Qualifiers no matter the actual current circuit points.
Monomaniac Ferus,
Orbit Gaming,
Team Dynamic,
Team Legion,
4Nothing,
Monomaniac Imperium,
unRestricted eSports,
Counter Logic Gaming.Black, and
Meat Playground are the teams that must fight for these circuit points, as it is their last hope for a chance at the Season 2 North American Qualifiers. Now the question is, who will be able to take first place at MLG Raleigh with TSM and CLG.NA gone? The tournament will take place from August 24th to August 26th. You can watch the stream on own3d. You can view the brackets on MLG's website.
Tournament Format
The tournament will be in a double elimination format, with a loser's bracket and a winner's bracket. Whoever loses in the loser bracket will be eliminated from the tournament, and whoever loses in the winner's bracket gets sent to the loser's bracket. The extended series rule, however will not be used in this tournament, unlike the past Major League Gaming events. All matches will be in the best of 3 format, with the finals match being a best out of 5.
Our very own CLG.Black will be participating, so show your support!

Update With Finals
Major League Gaming has decided to disqualify both
Dignitas and
Curse from the tournament after they played a best of 5 final. MLG will not be giving out the 1sst and 2nd prizes. MLG has stated this about the issue.
"MLG regrets to announce that we will not be awarding 1st or 2nd Place finishes for the Summer Championship League of Legends Event. We have determined that there was collusion between the two final teams, Curse NA and Team Dignitas. This is in clear violation of both the letter and spirit of MLG’s Official Pro Circuit Conduct Rules: “competitors may not intentionally Forfeit a Game or conspire to manipulate Rankings or Brackets.” As such, both teams have been disqualified, and no placements or prize money will be awarded."
Adam Apicella from MLG has stated this about the issue.
The collusion was planned and discussed in a public, crowded setting. The entire venue was aware of it. Not happy to be in this position.
Adam Apicella has also stated that they will be splitting the prize money to the 3rd,4th,5th,6th place winners at the tournament. The prize money consists of $40,000 USD.
