Remember the GIGABYTE StarsWar 7? Teams from China and South-Korea got the opportunity to qualify for the play-offs, with the Taipei Assassins being the only team invited. Battling it out for $6,000 USD live in Shanghai, the Assassins from Taipei took home the tournament.
In cooperation with GIGABYTE, StarsWar will be hosting a professional league for the top names in the Asian scene along with up and coming teams. $11,000 USD is on the line, who will take it home? The group stage lasts from 28 August until 04 October and each weekend teams will battle it out to determine which four teams advance to the play-offs and have a chance to get to the hall of fame and make some cash. StarsWar is a product of the Chinese eSports organization XMA, who have hosted seven LANs (seven editions of StarsWar) before, and will now host the GIGABYTE StarsWar Professional League. They were founded in order to promote eSports in China and to give professionals a place to shine, an amateur league is also hosted and the two leagues will collide in the future.
We will see the up and coming World Elite.i-Rocks take on the world famous Singapore Sentinels and Invictus Gaming, and Korea's finest will have a chance to prove themselves against the Chinese strongholders. Peter "Doublelift" Peng stated that Xenics Storm botlane is absolutely terrifying in an interview with Pluto, so make sure to check out their games! All the matches will be broadcasted on Twitch.
