CLG brings on MonteCristo as Coach
Team Featured by sayocean 1 year, 3 months ago

CLG has brought on OGN caster and ggChronicle Founder, Christopher "MonteCristo" Mykles to coach its League of Legends team.

We are excited to confirm the long circling rumors that MonteCristo will officially be working for CLG as the coach of its League of Legends team moving forward. Continuing its long gaze towards Korea for guidance, CLG is happy to bring on the man who perhaps has his finger closer to the pulse of the Asian meta than anyone else. MonteCristo has been working with the team on a trial basis for several weeks now, and though the team has a long way to go, both parties feel confident working together the CLG squad can greatly benefit from MonteCristo's insights, tutelage and in turn, vastly improve the team's performance.

"I'm thrilled to join CLG and hope to assist the team in refining their strategies, communication, and teamwork" said MonteCristo. "Counter Logic Gaming displays a commitment to practicing and competing at the highest level, while simultaneously recognizing and working to improve flaws in their play. I'm excited to help improve the team and continue the legacy of CLG as a premier North American League of Legends organization."

We hope you are as excited as we are to have Monte as a part of the team. Be sure to give him a warm welcome and give him all the credit for CLG's future successes! ;)

I doubt he told them to try it out. Jiji said they didn't have practice with it. CLG is known to have horrendous pick/ban phases (see their older scrims, they just pick whatever they think works good).

I just had to make an account to reply to the things some people say holy shit. MC is propably the one caster that understands EVERY aspect of the game. He always knows almost exactly what the every team's plan is and how they will play. He doesn't only know everything about League, he knows everything about SC2 to and has been in the korean scene for so long. He's so experienced ,in Korean esports especially which is where the actual Athletes are (not like in the western scene where everyone just thinks it's a vacation or something because i can barely see any progress) and if CLG gets worse from this it sure as hell not going to be only because of him.

Experince =\= understanding the game. Does he know how to plan level one? Does he know what builds/comps clg should go for? Does he know what clg's strengths are? Does he know how to control the game? THe fuck. Sure if monte cristo was an ex-pro player who understood how competitive league works on an intimate level or at least diamond or something. By all means, I don't mean to rail on him, but he does not understand EVERY aspect of the game. Fans want a better clg and a better clg comes with a better coach and that could be monte cristo but he doesn't seem to have the qualification for it. And the fuck? kobe and phreak are smarter than monte cristo the fuccck.

@milkgreentea I beg to differ, some of the best coaches in all sports never had experience as a player at a professional level, let alone a minor level. Some examples are Jose Mourinho (Football), Mike Babcock (NHL), Gregg Popovich (NBA), Joe Maddon (MLB), Bill Belichick (NFL), etc. The opposite holds true as well with names like Wayne Gretzky (NHL) when he tried his luck at being a coach.

I worded the above wrong, what I meant to say was that Wayne Greztky was a terrible coach and yet one of the (if not the) greatest hockey player of all time.

So if you say, 'the fuck', enough times, that'll really drive your point home? Phreak and Kobe are not 'smarter' than he is by any means. That's simply your irrelevant opinion.

tbh i dont't really think hes good enough... can clg get an NA version of nRated?
ajcerb 1 year, 3 months ago
He's definitely good enough. CLG has a version of Nrated but better; Chauster.
