LCS Week One Highlights

vs Team SoloMid - Teamwork and Map Play

CLG was mostly in control from start to finish in the much highlighted opening match of this year's LCS season. There were a few mishaps, but the outcome of the game was largely in CLG's hands. The match started off with a bang after a misplayed lane-swap by TSM, which left Hauntzer alone against a four-man dive by CLG. TSM held out through strong counterpicks to CLG's split-pushing strategy. Hauntzer's Mundo was near unkillable. Even if Darshan forced Haunzter to use his ultimate, Bjergsen was always ready to support Hauntzer with Twisted Fate's global Destiny ability. It took patient and strong objective play from CLG to finally break open the gates and take the win. CLG ended the game with five dragons and two barons to TSM's zero for either objective.

vs Team Dignitas - Not So Fast

Whatever level of control CLG had in the TSM match was not displayed this time around as Dignitas was given the opportunity to get a headstart in the game. CLG made some effort to get back into it, but had no answer to Dignitas' team composition. The same scenario played out repeatedly where Shiphtur would send out ghosts from Frost Queen's Claim, Kiwikid would then cut CLG members off with Trundle's pillar, and then the rest of Dignitas would continue to pick off and chase. It was a devastating combination and clever execution from Team Dignitas. Despite the loss, CLG will be looking to work off a promising start and fix their mistakes for the upcoming season.
