Farewell Dardoch, Welcome Omargod

When we began the 2017 Summer LCS Split, we had the goal of winning everything and that we wouldn’t drop a single set in the entire split. It was a reminder that being a part of Counter Logic Gaming comes with a set of the highest expectations and that we as an organization hold ourselves to those standards. We won our two LCS Championships on the foundation of teamwork and an understanding that every individual had to sacrifice in order to work toward a common goal.

Over the course of the split, we found that Joshua “Dardoch” Hartnett did not align with our focus on teamwork and culture. We therefore brought in Omar “Omargod” Amin as part of a six-man roster in order to show Dardoch what a group of five people invested in teamwork can accomplish. Dardoch helped the team find their competitive spirit early in the split and we knew that if we could help Dardoch learn to make those sacrifices - we would have the roster we needed to become LCS champions once again. Unfortunately, Dardoch was unwilling to adhere to the set of standards expected of every member of the team.

We have therefore made the difficult decision to part ways with Dardoch. Dardoch was a large factor in why we had our strongest start to a split in a long time. He is a skilled player with a high ceiling for potential, but we decided that we would need to move forward in order to create the best possible position for the team to win an LCS title. Omar is the player who will take us there.

“Dardoch helped reignite the competitive passion within the team. When he joined the team and worked with them throughout the bootcamp, I saw a desire from the team that I had not seen in a long time. I am sad that things did not go as well as we expected, but I learned a lot from the time I worked with Dardoch. Although he unfortunately could not align with the team’s culture, I believe he is still a strong mechanical player and will be able to find a place on another team.”

- Tony “Zikz” Gray, Head Coach

“Omar has a really strong learning curve and his ceiling seems to be very high based on his mindset,” said Head Coach Zikz. “He has dedicated himself not only in-game but out of game to find ways to improve. He works to make sure every game is better than the last. We know we only have four weeks until playoffs start, but we are very confident that in those four weeks Omar will become one of the best junglers in North America.”

“Omar is hungry for success and I'm glad he has been added to our roster. We have four weeks to train him up to the level expected of him, and I have no doubt that he'll be able to reach that level with our team."

- Aphromoo, Captain

Each LCS Team has a unique competitive culture. Each player will respond differently to the culture they’re presented with. Dardoch helped us step up to the competitive standards we should always hold ourselves to. While he was the right player for that moment, he isn’t the best choice for our future. We wish him the best in his journey on Team Liquid. We’re looking forward to a bright competitive future for Omar on Counter Logic Gaming. We’re excited for the contribution he’ll bring both to our organization and on the Rift.
