Today we are announcing that Counter Logic Gaming (CLG) will be stepping back from Counter Strike: Global Offensive and parting ways with our main CS:GO and academy roster. CLG has been in competitive Counter Strike since the beginning of 2015. Since then, the competitive sport, community, and industry has grown massively into what it is today. It has been amazing to see the collective rise of esports and CS:GO at the forefront of it. After several months of analysis and internal discussion around our business strategy, as well as the economics of the sport, we reached this difficult decision.
We want to thank everyone that has been involved with CLG CS:GO for helping and competing for the team these past three years. From the original mouseSpaz roster with Cutler, FNS, Hazed, Tarik, and PTR to our current roster of Cutler, koosta, nahtE, Rickeh, and FNS. The coaching staff and players have all worked incredibly hard under the CLG banner. They practiced under rigid schedules, traveled constantly throughout the year, and sometimes competed in multiple tournaments a week - all for the sake of winning and reaching their goals. We will be helping our current roster find new homes in the next few weeks; they are all talented individuals that would be an excellent addition to any team.
There were great moments. Moments that made us all leap from our chairs and yell in excitement when the amazing happened: upsetting LDLC in our first major tournament at MLG Aspen, beating Fnatic in the ESL Pro League Finals, and storming MLG Columbus 2016 to make it to Legend Status. We wanted to thank all the fans who have supported the team throughout the years and shared in these moments with us.
Counter Strike: Global Offensive is a thrilling and entertaining esport that we all love. Thank you Hazed, ptr, fugLy, jdm64, pita, tarik, grt, Subroza, ImAPet, cardiac, mcs, djay, char, aproto, infinite, XotiC, ruin, Ryu, Mike, Rickeh, nahtE, koosta, FNS, and Cutler for your hard work and dedication to the game. We hope that our fans not only continue to support CLG, but also support our players as they make their way into the next chapter of their careers. Thank you.
