so I realized that no matter how famous your concept gets, and no matter how loved by the community, riot will never take it into account and make it happen, if so, why make this forum? because to be honest, I am sure and can bet you that most of, if not everyone, of the posters on this forum with concepts only put it on here because they hope it will be loved enough to be seen in game, if the point of this forum is to let our imaginations run wild, then I'd say you change the name of the forum to something more convenient rather than leaving our creations (which I do believe that some are nicer than those in game) hanging here in hope of them being turned to be real, when it won't..

This really hurts to know that after working so hard on the concept, and receiving the support of this community, and the love of almost everyone, you'll just know that you have achieved a good level of imagination rather than something real like having the champion looked at by a riot developer and making it happen...

I want to make sure everyone is aware of the sticky on this forum. It mentions that..

I don't think there's any deception here. It's the "platform to express your creativity" part that I'm most interested in. That is something that I can help with. It won't be by reviewing every idea, no matter how great it is. It won't be by taking ideas to designers and telling them to make it. I can't do those things- I have neither the time nor the authority.

What I can do is enable you, as a community, to grow. You can all be great together. You can make an awesome idea that other members of this community enjoy. You all get to share in that. You're enjoying yourself and becoming better at something you're passionate about. If but one of you ends up becoming a game designer somewhere, that'd be the most awesome thing that could happen.

I've got some cool ideas that I'm willing to put in extra work to see happen, but those will take some time. I'm not going to share details until I know if they'll happen or not.

All I ask from you guys in exchange for my efforts is that you continue being awesome. Part of why I'm willing to be here and put in my free time to help is that I see a very cool, collaborative community that you've created on your own. Keep doing that sort of thing. Keep challenging each other to be better and better. You don't need me or anyone else from Riot to do that.

If I thought you had bad intentions or were out to troll, I wouldn't have responded. You were hurt because you felt like your passion had turned against you- and, potentially others felt the same way. I can't let that go by without saying something.

Riot's been inspired by the community on more than one occasion. There's nothing wrong with hoping it might happen. It just can't be your goal. You'll get disappointed. Even if we did take ideas, the vast majority of them could never be actualized. If your goal is to get progressively better, though? That's something that you can achieve. And that path could you lead to even cooler places than having an idea put in the game.

I could, but then I'd have to post on all of them.

As for EU, once I've come up with a good way to utilize my presence on this board, I'm happy to talk with you guys as well. I actually haunt your forums a decent bit(General, primarily), but my job doesn't really have the kind of cool information and feedback that you guys crave. I hadn't forgotten about all of you, no worries.

I think you're all being incredibly mature about this. That's really cool. It certainly makes it easier for me to stick around.

I have no idea. Bigger than a breadbox, smaller than Jupiter? Is that an acceptable answer?

I know it happens sometimes, but by who and how often I don't have the slightest.

I created this champion concept a while back: http://na.leagueoflegends.com/board/....php?t=1425153 and then the week after I did it, Fizz was released. And now Nautilus came out too.
Champions take months to create. People had been trying to come up with an anchor-based champion for a while. I submitted an idea that was basically 'guy in a diving suit with an anchor', and the champion team took the parts of it they liked and iterated on that simple concept until they released the champion you're all familiar with. That was quite a while back.

Something worth keeping in mind is that most great ideas don't come from just one source. There are plenty of concepts and move sets that are repeated often on this board from what I've seen so far. I'd be willing to bet that most of the people who made them had no idea about the others- I posted on a thread about 'Aerel', and a few other people popped in to mention that it was similar to ideas they'd posed as well.

None of that means that people are taking ideas from each other. Merely that those ideas are popular and/or make sense with the type of character you want to create. This isn't a bad thing- you want ideas that resonate. If ten people make a champion, without knowledge of the others, and they all come out very similar- don't you think that means it has an element of widespread appeal?

    edit:

Also, if people are getting inspired by each other's ideas, isn't that pretty flattering?

Even if people didn't look and it showed up in the game anyways, doesn't that validate that you had a good idea regardless? I do agree that satchel charge is really awesome. It's such a great, flexible move.

I like that type of ability the most. Very simple, but how well it's used is all on the player. You have to make decisions and choices, instead of just using it whenever it's off cooldown. I think that's something that we can all strive towards- simplicity through design, complexity through gameplay. Marry that together with a core concept that resonates well, and you have the basis for a great champion.

As for my ideas on here? Unfortunately, nothing right now. I've been working so much that I don't get many chances to work on them lately. The last few I've come up with lacked that special spark that defines a good champion concept. I hope that by participating with all of you I'll become better at design as well. It's not a career goal of mine- I just like to have a creative outlet.
