My degree is in illustration actually, and later, when I came to LA, I went back to school for classes geared towards entertainment design. That was both through a regular private college as well as some side ala carte classes that were essentially workshops that lasted for a season.
My education and experience is very cobbled together from straight up traditional schooling, to individual classes taught by professionals, to work experience and a lot of crazy stuff in between. I believe it's good to strive for a degree in the fields you want or in a related field. You can still start off in a place like illustration or fine art and end up in 3D or animation. It's wide open! |
