Please read the entire post before responding!

I was the guy that started (one) of the ward hack threads. I was very upset when I saw it, because I thought LoL was almost entirely server sided. It received 139 upvotes within 4-5 days, and then got closed. I thought Riot closed it like any other company would because it created more exposure to the hack.

I was wrong. Riot COMPLETELY fixed the ward hack exploit within 5 days of my posting that thread. For all I know they had been working on it for longer, but I just wanted to say that this is incredible for a gaming company. THIS is why Riot has the most competitive online game in the industry. It is literally unhackable, and when a hack is discovered it is fixed almost instantly.

Please give props to the Riot team for being some of the most diligent software designers in the industry at keeping their game hack free. Thanks for listening to the community, and thanks for ensuring your game is fair and balanced for the competitive community.

Please bump and +1 if you agree

For who are curious, I will link the original closed thread for those who are curious, below.

Riot closed my last thread with +139 upvotes without a response. Is reposting a closed thread ban worthy? Maybe; however, I feel that getting Riot's attention to fix this exploitable feature is more pertinent than my account being banned. I do not feel that this game is worth playing if there are multiple hacks out there that allow you to see exactly where enemy wards are placed. This has the potential to ruin the competitive online scene. Perhaps tournaments will be exempt from this as spectators are able to see a competitor's screen, but the online ladder will become plagued with hacks just like the Starcraft 2. PLEASE bookmark and bump this thread if you agree and do not wish to see League of Legends plagued by hacks. All I am asking is that Riot acknowledges this issue and informs the community about how they plan to address the issue.

Also, this is not something Riot can ignore. Just because they close threads on the general forum about hacks does not mean their game will not be plagued by them, it is only a band-aid. Security through obscurity is no security at all.

Please bump if you think this is an issue Riot should address.

I'll try to be as vague as possible in describing this, although it's not exactly a secret among those who use exploits.

You need to address the issue of ward placement being globally broadcast to clients even through the fog of war. People are writing scripts that exploit this so that they have knowledge of where every ward is placed by the enemy team and when it will expire. Enemy champion locations are not broadcast through the fog of war, so why is it that ward locations are? It seems like it could be a simple fix; however, I have a very limited knowledge of programming.

What is the reasoning for broadcasting ward locations through the fog of war? Hopefully this is an issue that is already being addressed or in the process of being looked at. League is one of the best and most competitive online experiences due to the fact that it is hard to exploit which creates a fair playing environment for everyone. I hope keeping it this way is a priority for Riot, as the last thing I want to play is the Counter Strike Source version of League.

TL;DR Ward placement is broadcast through the fog of war to the enemy teams clients. This is easily exploited so that enemy ward locations and the times which they expire are known without ever actually "seeing" the ward being placed.

Pretty sure this is what the OP is talking about. I saved the image to my comp and uploaded it to imageshack so people couldn't find the site it was on. There is no way to find the hack from just this image.

Took me 5 minute to find not even going off of the OP's post. On one of the most popular hacking sites on the internet.

Yes, you are right. That's the one I ran across. It's not hidden or anything. It's quite stupid when people say, "well don't post about it on the forums submit a support ticket" when it takes about 10 seconds to find without even using this post. I know I was just curious what was out there and did a quick Google search with NO prior research and found it in about 2 minutes. I simply typed in a completely generic phrase to see whether there are people out there exploiting or not.

2nd Edit, to all of those saying I shouldn't have posted this... this is quoting my post of them so I don't have to repeat myself...

"[This hack] is linked on one of the most widely known hacking sites on the internet. You know that you can't just sweep it under the rug, right?

Do you believe Counter Strike is infested with hackers because someone posted on the official forums that people are hacking? No, it's infested with hackers because there are hacks that are widely available on this same website and websites like it."

    Hey guys.

It's unfortunate, but we absolutely cannot bring attention to any exploits, which is why we're forced to close threads and the like. All it does is cause the exploit to become more widespread, and sometimes they can take quite a while to fix.

But we really do love the reports, and they help us make League of Legends the best, fairest, most unhackable game in the world. Because of that, it's much better to report things like that to us in less public way than the forums.

Feel free to shoot me an email at whattayabrian [at] riotgames.com if you see anything like that. We take things like this very seriously.

If you have knowledge of exploits, sending them to us via support.leagueoflegends.com or other direct means is incredibly appreciated. We work very hard to keep LoL hackfree.

Posting them to the forums is definitely not the best way to let us know for the reasons WhattayaBrian stated. Thanks for understanding <3.
