I think Tiamat is great, people say the mp5 and healthregen is dead weight late-game.
I say it's so good early, that you snowball harder than you would normally, making you even stronger late.
One game doesn't say much, but I say, I rarely play Olaf, and I was against a 1200 wins Shen at top, sure my champion counters him hard but whatever..
Looks like i influenced our Fiora to buy one aswell lol!
Pros:
I cleared minion-waves in one swing, and an axethrow. making two towers fall down really really quickly.(As soon as i got tiamat an axethrow killed all the mage minions)
Super fast minion clearing = more gold since I can kill jungle-creeps in between laning phase.
I only really needed 2-3 seconds in an enemy jungle camp to counterjungle.
I was never ever hesitating to use my abilities, for harass, pushing or healing up since I had a decent manaregen.
When tiamat does splash unto other enemy champions than your main target, -it hurts. Alot.
Cons:
I wasn't tanky until a little later in the game, didnt matter much since my W was maxed out early + heavy damage = lifestealing craze.
I guess you can't lasthit in the same way. But by the time I got tiamat i really just pushed towers, roamed other lanes and the enemy jungle.. dominating half the map really.
So imho no real heavy cons with this item. Change it if you want, i'm happy as it is cus works for me.

Associate Game DesignerI think you'd lose 100 RP if I was to take you up on that betClearly Tiamat needs a rebuild, if Riot has % of used items in a game, i bet 100 RP tiamat is one the 3 worst/less sold in a game. Bad english, always in bar drinking beer sry

Tiamat is a really odd item I'll admit. Roku, one of our gameplay analysts and a top player on NA ran Tiamats on Riven and crushed people with them.
It really isn't as bad as people tend to think. If you compare it with a BF Sword you gain for a mere 420 gold:
+5 AD
+3 Health/sec
+1 Mana/se
Passive - 50% Splash damage
To be honest that's a really good deal over a B.F. Sword. Of course that BF eventually upgrades into a higher tier item. which can be critical for carry late game scaling, but for characters who aren't ranged carries the AD from Tiamat may be a better choice. As a result I think it's a highly underrated option on fighters. The passives range feels a bit short often but cost-wise it is effectively free and any extra damage in teamfights is a big deal. I don't share Roku's enthusiasm for Tiamats enough to buy three like he usually did but I think its a perfectly good item on many characters.
I'm glad I saw this thread because I had forgotten about it. I'm going to start picking it up again on my some of my non-Rumble top laners.
It's always possible we'll do an update to Tiamat as I know Live Team wants to continue to introduce more items into the game, though I think there are a few other items that could use looking at first.#212 months ago -
