Ok so here is what happen. . Normally the whole team says GG at the end of the game. I do it too. But A lot of games as of late everytime some one says GG near the end of the game the other team keeps saying they plan to report us for saying GG? Even when nothing is said to the other team all game. Can you really be reported and punshied for saying Good Game (gg)? I mean ive never been banned or anything like that because i up hold the summoner code to the best that i can but this is a first for people to report me and others over saying GG.

Personally, I say "gg wp" or "gg" at the end of every game, no matter what. I view it as common courtesy, like the "good game" high five/handshake line in youth sports. It's just something that you do (in my eyes). I don't view it as a requirement for other people, but it's never a bad thing when used appropriately at the end of a game.

You are not going to get in any trouble for saying "gg" at the end of a match. If you're adding other stuff, like "gg noobs" or "too bad my team is bad, gg", you might get reported and fairly - but if your only reports people unhappy you said "gg", nothing's going to happen to you.

I don't think saying "bg" is good form or common courtesy - "gg, sorry for afk" is an appropriate way of saying this. "Good game" doesn't mean the game was fair, well-played, fun, or anything else - it means the game is over, and you're giving a traditional show of respect for the other team. If you don't want to say gg, you don't have to, but I personally strongly dislike "bg" for any reason, even if you have good intentions.

Of course, this is just my opinion - you can choose to say it or not, and it's not like I would report people for saying "bg, sorry about your afk" - but to me bg just has that angry, bitter connotation that takes away from what you're trying to say.

To respond to a bunch of people once - my thoughts about bg stem mostly from the fact that it's a negative expression swung positive, rather than a positive expression muted for a tough situation. This is just because I like to frame everything positively, and I don't want to risk anybody thinking I'm trying to be a jerk when I say bg (I try to be really cautious about that kind of thing). I don't think there's anything inherently wrong with saying "bg, sorry for the afk" instead of "gg, sorry for the afk", I just prefer the latter.

To reiterate, "good game" does not necessarily mean "you played well" or "this was a closely-contested victory" - it means "we just played a game together, and now it's over - thanks for playing". It can also mean "holy smokes we just won a 70-minute game and every single building is blown up except for our nexus", but that's the extra stuff you can attach to it, rather than the base.
